About
It took me five years. It shouldn’t take you that long.
As a loving husband and a romantic partner who spent seventeen years trying to fix a marriage that could not be fixed, I felt the need to create Breakup Road for every accomplished woman who is quietly running the same losing calculation I once did.

Seventeen years of doing everything right
For seventeen years I was, by every outside measure, doing well. An award-winning engineer and inventor. A provider. A father. And at home, none of it counted. No accomplishment — no promotion, no patent, no repaired faucet — ever changed the verdict: less-than.
Like most decent people in that position, my answer was to try harder. Be more patient. Earn more. Argue less. It’s the natural response, and it’s exactly the one that doesn’t work — because the problem wasn’t how well I was maintaining the marriage. The problem was the road it was on.
If that sounds familiar, you already know the strangest part: being excellent at everything else makes it worse, not better. It gives you one more reason to believe the fix is somewhere inside you.

The five years I want to save you
It took me nearly five years to get past the fear of being alone. Five years of staying because every alternative looked worse: the children, the house, the finances, the shame of "failing" at marriage. When I finally moved, I found something that changed how I think about relationships entirely: understanding why relationships fail matters more than knowing what makes them work.
I raised a family as a single father. I rebuilt a romantic life from nothing, and in time I remarried — to a woman whose career is every bit as demanding as mine ever was. There is love after a relationship like that one. I’m living proof.
Why women, and why this moment
While I was rebuilding, I kept meeting the same person: a brilliant, financially independent woman who had spent years with a charismatic partner who took far more than he gave, and who had somehow concluded that the deficit was hers to make up. She could run a corporate division and not name what was happening in her own living room.
Breakup Road works on the moment before the breakup — the mindset shift that couples therapy and breakup recovery both step around. Therapy works on the relationship. Recovery starts after the fact. In between is where capable women lose years, and it is exactly where strategy helps most: seeing the relationship clearly, making peace with every possible outcome, dismantling the beliefs that keep you funding it, and then choosing — on purpose.
